Manzanita to Tillamook

38 miles, 222 miles trip total

September 10th

Lance took off early this morning to find a church in Rockaway. We caught up to him about midmorning when services were over. Rockaway has a working steam engine, that gives tourists a trip up from Garibaldi and back again. The weather today was ideal, and the ride was easy. No big hills, and we were aided by a 15 mph tailwind for stretches. We stopped at viewpoints and overlooks, no hurry to make miles today.

When we got to Tillamook, we took the self guided tour of their creamery. We saw a factory making lots of cheese! The ice cream must be created elsewhere, but they did serve ice cream at the food court. I ordered a "flight" - which is three scoops of ice cream. My three flavors were caramel swirl, caramel toffee crunch, and Tillamook mudslide. Now that is just the kind of lunch a cyclist needs.

Our Air B-n-B was several miles beyond Tillamook, near the town of Netarts. The place we rented had a grill, so Ramone cooked up ribs and we feasted while watching the sunset.
