I was rummaging through some old boxes of artwork, and I found some stuff that I liked, so I thought I would post it up here. This Hi was at the start of an elaborate letter I wrote way back before everyone had email.
This is a watercolor / colored ink drawing I made long ago when I worked at TRW. All my friends were leaving the defense industry. At the time, it seemed crazy to stay - all the rats were bailing, so I decided to jump too. Off I went to San Diego. That turned okay for me! The ship is supposed to be the S. S. Amuck, it was poor planning on my part to obscure the M with a rat. Wouldn't it be fun to animate something like this in Flash? So many projects, so little time.
Look! It is Captain Doofus! It seems he was always at the helm of the S.S. Amuck.
This dunking reindeer was inspired by that ubiquitious Nike logo of Jordan dunking. This seems plausible to me, everyone knows reindeer can fly!
This stylin' character looks pretty good in that hat. Sauntering down the street and looking fine. I hope he doesn't mind that I drew him with two right feet. Oops!
The elaborate The End was from the same letter as the fanciful Hi. Gee, that turned out well. I must have written some good letters, back in the day...
